Three Tops to Buy Now and Wear Through Fall

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

We love versatile clothing that we can get as much life out of as possible. This week, we’re welcoming Natalie from Natalie in the City to share her favorite clothing items to add to her wardrobe now, and how she’ll layer them up to keep wearing them throughout the fall season.

Although it’s been a little cooler in the Midwest lately, summer won’t let me forget about its scorching heat waves as the season bounces back and fourth between cardigan and scarf weather to swimsuit and shorts temperatures. But nonetheless, I am dreaming of fall weather and fashion, which is why I’m only shopping for clothes that remind me of fall, but that can also easily be incorporated into my summer wardrobe. You could say that I am encouraging summer to pack its bags and let the leaves fall. Here’s what I’ve picked up so far.

A Trendy Fringe Shawl

This Fringe shawl by Falls Creek from Meijer is perfect for those chilly summer nights or a mid-day picnic in the park.

For the warmer weather now, I paired this shawl with some acid wash shorts with tribal print detailing on the sides and a lace-up tank top.

I love that this shawl can easily double as a fall staple as well. Since most of my clothes are black, I love how this shawl can add some dimension to the black T-shirt, knee-high boots and ripped denim for the perfect, go-to fall ensemble. And I also can’t wait to pair this piece with a sweater dress!

A Chic Black and White Plaid Blouse

I love this Falls Creek blouse from Meijer. This little chic number is easy to wear with almost anything because its black and white plaid pattern makes it versatile and classic.

I love to pair this gray midi dress with the plaid blouse and wear it to work or to a lunch date with friends. It may be a little unexpected to see a dress under this top—as opposed to a skirt—but wearing a loose blouse in the Windy City requires a little extra coverage!

While I love sporting midi dresses in the summer, fall temperatures also allow for a little midi action, which is why I paired the plaid blouse with my favorite leather, pleated midi skirt. What I love most about this outfit is that I can tuck in the blouse, tie a knot in the front, or leave it un-tucked.

A Cozy Plaid Button-up Flannel

Everyone needs a red and blue button-up plaid flannel for fall. I love this one by Falls Creek from Meijer.

Flannels can be a little hot in the summer, which is why I’m taking advantage of the cooler summer days with this plaid button-up. Throughout the next two months, I will pair this flannel with some destroyed denim shorts with the sleeves rolled up or tied around my waist with my favorite pair of jeans to beat the heat.

When fall rolls around, bring on the cardigans! I love that I can dress up this flannel with some knee-high boots and an oversized, yet sharp, cardigan. This outfit for fall screams “cozy and comfortable,” which is right up my alley!
