As spring begins to peek around the corner, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear the season’s hottest trends. From fashion tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for a new year of style.
This week, we’re welcoming Candace from Live, Love and Read to share how she’s styling this spring’s pink trend, from blush styles to bold beauty.
Supposedly, Greenery is the 2017 Color of the Year. However, if you’ve had your ear to the ground, you’ll know that pink is really shaping up to be the star color for 2-0-1-7. Yes, PINK.
From the red carpet to Paris Fashion Week to the streets, pink is without a doubt the go-to color if you are looking to make a statement. Before you tune me out, when I say statement, I do not mean the frou-frou, girly girl notation that has been attached to the color pink for years! In fact, you can pretty much say goodbye to all the negative pink stigmas.
While the color undoubtedly still represents femininity, it now represents it in a much more powerful, daring and unique way. Now granted, most of us gals won’t be waltzing the red carpet in a bright pink gown like Zoe Saldana did at the Golden Globes. But there are a few subtle – yet not so subtle – ways we can integrate pink back into our wardrobe for the coming spring season.
I like to take the CIAC approach: clothing item, accessory and cosmetic. Categorizing pink by item will allow a bit more ease and efficiency as you aim to think pink again.
Look 1: CLOTHING ITEM
Thinking pink in terms of your clothing can be a challenge… for the simple fact that it’s pink. Changing one’s mindset in regards to color requires time. No worries. You do not have to jump in six feet deep. Take it easy by exploring the softer side of pink.
A blush top with a dramatic sleeve still has the same impact as a bright pink top. The wide neckline on this pale top is also a fun take on this year’s cold shoulder trend.
For those of you who feel a bit more daring, try a printed palazzo pant with a shade of pink as the focal point and layering it with a complimentary pink top and a few classic accessory pieces.

Look 2: ACCESSORY
Personally speaking, I think accessories are the icing to an outfit. If you are not quite ready to commit to pink through your clothing items, accessories are a great alternative. You can go as loud or as subtle as you desire.
This slightly masculine look, which is an aesthetic majorly trending this year, is given instant femininity by completing it with a soft pink handbag and complimentary bracelet set. While the sunglasses are dominantly gold, the pink hues beneath the gold create an effect that allows a hint of pink in your eyewear without having too much.

Look 3: COSMETIC
When it comes to living on the LOUD side of color, we tend to take a few steps back. As we’ve discussed, wearing a BRIGHT pink top or pant may be a bit unnerving and too loud in rediscovering color.
However, when it comes to exploring color, there is no such thing as too bright in cosmetic land. If you are itching to go super bright with pink, but are not feeling confident enough to make that statement with your clothing, opt for a bright pink lip color!

With spring on the horizon, this is the perfect time to be pretty in pink. Just remember that pink is indeed in, and utilize CIAC to approach your color exploration systematically! We’ve all heard the saying: slow and steady wins the race. Take it from a stylist – the same thing applies to style!
