New Year, New You: The Best Gear to Help You Keep Your Resolutions

No matter what healthy resolution you set for yourself in 2017, having the right gear could be the difference between abandoning your goals or celebrating at the finish line. Whether you’re a veteran yogi or a fitness newbie, pick up these healthy essentials to make sure you crush your resolutions – and look great doing it.

If getting more exercise is a top priority, don’t roll the dice with whatever tennis shoes you have laying around the house. New running shoes with extra cushioning will protect your ankles (and knees!) from long runs, while low-profile training shoes will make sure you keep your form during weight training.

Beyond keeping you cool, technical fabrics in bright colors are an easy way to get in the mood for exercising. This year it’s all about neon, so skip the muted neutrals in favor of vivid pinks and greens to really make a statement.

Whether you’re practicing vinyasas at the studio or lifting hand weights during your favorite TV show, don’t forget to refuel when you’re done. Apples and bananas are a great source of vitamins, and if your workout was over an hour, grab a protein bar to tide you over until your next meal.

If your beau’s resolution is to log less screen time, why not get the whole family involved? Try shooting hoops or organizing a touch football tournament for a fun way to get everyone’s heart rate up. Flip top water bottles are perfect for touting around, while protein shakes make sure he’ll recover in time for tomorrow’s rematch.

Whether you’re into sweet, savory or something in between, it’s never been easier to get the protein you need to fuel your resolutions. Experiment with different snacks to see which one you like best – from Greek yogurt to on-the-go smoothies, there’s a healthy option your family is sure to love.

Now that you’ve got the right gear, get out there and make 2017 your best year yet!

5 Lounge Looks to Try this Holiday Season

As winter’s chill sets in, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear the season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for winter weather.

This week, we’re welcoming Lisa of LMP Collections to share her favorite lounge looks for a cozy winter afternoon.

holiday lounge look

During the holiday season, there is nothing better than staying in and cozying up in your comfiest winter clothes. And the best part of all? It’s totally possible to look cute and be comfortable at the same time. Whether you’re opening presents with your family or hosting a holiday party with friends, there’s a perfect lounge look for every occasion.

I love to be cozy while spending time at home with my family during the holidays! These soft pants, graphic tee and slippers from Meijer are the perfect outfit to relax in while sipping hot coffee and sharing Christmas memories.

Present-Time

What makes Christmas morning even better? Waking up wearing cute holiday pajamas! Bundle up in a warm blanket, a ‘Meet Me Under the Mistletoe’ tee and flannel PJ pants, and you’ll be ready to open up your presents in no time. You can even hide your bedhead with a go-to knit hat (because who has time to style their hair on Christmas morning?). Everyone knows pictures will be taken while exchanging gifts, so you may as well wear something festive to remember!

Up and Around

Another easy way to stay warm is to throw on a fuzzy robe! This robe has been my go-to this season – it’s the perfect choice after coming home from a long day of Christmas shopping in the chilly, snowy weather. It’s also much easier to wear than trying to keep bundled in a blanket (especially when you’re making hot cocoa and baking cookies!).

Cozy Boho

My style usually leans toward a bohemian vibe, so this sweater, scarf and sock combo from Meijer is the perfect look for setting decorations with my family. Plus, if you’re headed out of the house to pick up more presents or décor, all you need is a pair of jeans, boots and coat and you’re ready to brave the cold. I’m all about this warm, cozy outfit!

Time to Party

Looking for something comfy and cute to wear for your casual Christmas parties? My go-to is always a cozy dress paired with an oversized cardigan. I love the boho print because it pairs well with my green sweater (it’s not a Christmas party without red and green, am I right?). Finally, complete this laidback look with your favorite pair of snow boots. Pro tip: If your festivities are a little more formal, you can dress this outfit up by trading your cardi for a fur coat and your boots for heels. Voila!

Which cozy look will you try this season?

The Best Last-Minute Gifts for Everyone on Your List

We’ve all been there – with just a few days left of the holiday season, you realize you haven’t found the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Luckily, it’s easier than ever to get all you need at one place. So if you’re already out shopping for food or festive décor, here are a few last-minute presents your friends and family are sure to love (and they’re all things you can find at your local one-stop shop: Meijer!).

holiday presents for women girls ladies

For the ladies

Whether it’s your mom, sister, daughter or a friend, all of your best girls will love these thoughtful gifts.

  1. Chocolates from Ghirardelli or Ferrero Rocher are a great stocking stuffer for anyone with a sweet tooth. Bite-sized treats are best – they’ll last longer (and they’re easier to share!).
  2. You can’t go wrong gifting gloves or mittens since the weather is so chilly during the holiday season. There’s always a need for extra warm accessories!
  3. There’s no such thing as too much jewelry, so your gals will love a new bracelet or watch. Opt for neutral metallic tones like gold or silver – that way, your gift is guaranteed to match all their favorite outfits.
  4. If you’re shopping for a family member or a close friend, you could pick out a sweater or a pair of pajama pants. If you understand their style and know what size they need, they’ll appreciate the thought you put into this present!
  5. If you’re not sure what treats or trends your ladies like, opt for a cute knickknack or unique household item – whether it’s a coffee mug, a chevron frame or a polka-dot phone case.

holiday presents for guys and boys

For the guys

Not sure what to buy for your dad, bro or S.O.? Here are a few foolproof ideas the men in your life are sure to love.

  1. A new mug or thermos + your guy’s favorite beverage = an easy and useful combo that they’ll definitely appreciate. Some drinks even come in gift boxes this time of year!
  2. For men that are dreaming of warmer, sunnier days, brand new golf balls are a great holiday gift. They’ll love having them on-hand when they’re ready to hit the course again.
  3. But with winter’s not-so-warm weather, puffy vests + plaid are a must-have pair this season. Your guy will stay just the right amount of toasty if he ventures outside on a mild winter day.
  4. For guys that like to spend a night in now and then, a new Blu-Ray or DVD is the perfect present. Opt for a blockbuster that just hit stores or their favorite flick of all time!
  5. While the ladies in your life buy new wallets on the regular, your dad, brother or husband might be in need of an upgrade. Choose a billfold in brown or black leather – it’s a sleek, classic style that all guys appreciate.

holiday presents for children of all ages

For the kiddos

Need to cross your child, niece or nephew off your list? Here are a few simple gift ideas for kids of all ages.

  1. A goofy board game like Pie Face or a Disney movie like Finding Dory will keep your child laughing all winter long. You might enjoy getting in on the fun, too. 🙂
  2. If your child loves cuddling or has lots of furry friends, choose a brand new stuffed animal they can add to their collection. Tie a bow around its neck and leave it under the tree for them to find!
  3. Washable paint + brushes are a great gift for children with an artsy side. They’ll have a blast creating their unique masterpieces – plus, the kid-friendly color shouldn’t stain their clothes or your carpet (in case they get extra creative or messy).
  4. A winter hat featuring the child’s favorite character is a win-win – they’ll stay warm (which you’ll love) while repping their character of choice (which they’ll love).
  5. Finally, if you’re brave enough to withstand your child’s inevitable sugar rush, candy is a great (and easy) holiday stocking stuffer.

Already finished your shopping, but need some outfit inspiration? Here are some blogger-approved accessories to pair with your holiday ensemble.

How to Make Your Holiday Look Sparkle

As winter’s chill sets in, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear the season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for winter weather.

With the holiday season officially underway, many of us are stressing about what to wear to our plethora of December parties. To ease that stress in style, this week we’re welcoming Candace of Live, Love and Read to show us how to create brand-new holiday looks by simply adding the must-try accessories of the season.

With Thanksgiving and Black Friday officially under our belts, we can welcome December with arms wide open! I’m still in awe of how quickly December arrived this year. It feels like yesterday that we were celebrating the beginning of 2016 and suddenly here we are celebrating the most wonderful time of the year AGAIN!

womens-gold-bib-necklace

While I am certain we all love the holiday season for different reasons, there is one thing most of us gals have in common and that is creating the ultimate holiday wardrobe. If we are being completely honest with ourselves, most of us do not have a dedicated wardrobe collection for our annual roundup of holiday soirees. And guess what? There really isn’t any need to when we have JEWELRY. Accessories are a simple, sure fire way to instantly transform a look without breaking the bank.  Oh – not to mention – accessorizing provides you with an opportunity to showcase your unique personal style.  Now that holiday festivities have arrived, here are a couple ways you can make your holiday look sparkle!

Look 1: The Golden Hues

womens-sweater-and-jeans-christmas-outfit

womens-holiday-sweater

Not every holiday party is a fancy one. Sometimes you just need that perfect dressy-casual look with the right accessories to make a statement. When it comes to holiday style, we tend to gravitate toward the usual red, green and black combination and forget all about the pretty golden hues that also represent the holiday season. Rather than going for what’s comfortable, I encourage you to explore everyday accessories like bangles and simple earrings in gold.

womens-holiday-jewelry

When styled with the right pieces, gold can make the perfect holiday statement without trying too hard.  It’s very subtle, but impactful. Rather than stacking with one bangle, layer with three to make an even larger statement.

womens-christmas-jewelry

Also incorporate a large cocktail ring for an extra pop of sparkle! If you choose to go this route for any of your upcoming festivities, be sure to go with a soft pink or nude lip to really heighten the golden hues of your accessories.

Look 2: The Classic Statement Earring

womens-plaid-holiday-dress

I will forever say this until my dying days, but sometimes less is more! When creating a holiday look that involves print, opt for the classic statement earring.  You want the print to be the focal point of the look and not the jewelry.

womens-holiday-earrings

Since this dress is a mock neck, I opted for a medium size statement earring with silvery crystals to ensure this look had that holiday-esque feel.

While less is most definitely more, I love the idea of wearing simple jewelry pieces to make the look feel even more complete. A simple bracelet and a set of stackable rings is a great way to finalize a busy holiday look without overdoing it.

Yet another way to give your holiday look that extra pop of sparkle is by layering with a bib necklace. Incorporating a bib necklace is pretty for those holiday looks with simple necklines, like this cold shoulder top.

With the tiniest hints of rose gold sparkle in this necklace paired with these bar earrings, a bangle and a bold red lip transitions this look from fall to holiday in no time.

Accessories allow us to define the exclamation points of our personal style. So use that power this holiday season to create looks that you’ve never done before! Always remember that style is a way to speak without ever uttering a word. Allow your accessories to play an active voice in that conversation.  Just remember to be intentional in accessory choices and to simply be YOU!

Festive Outfit Ideas for Your Next Holiday Party

Thanksgiving may have come and gone, but the holiday festivities are far from over. December brings a full month of get-togethers and celebrations – and the ugly sweater party is one of our personal favorites. If this goofy soiree is on your calendar this year, here are some outfits and accessories that will bring the theme to life.

4dec_uglysweater1

4dec_uglysweater2

If you want to go all out with a holiday-themed costume, dress up like Mrs. Claus or Santa’s adorable helper. The ensembles pair perfectly with your go-to tights and booties – plus, they’re easy to re-create with the staple items in your closet. For a DIY take on this festive party outfit, wear a red or green top with a skirt in the same color. To complete the holiday look (and create the illusion of a dress) cinch the style at your waist with your favorite black belt. Voila!

4dec_uglysweater4

If you don’t have an ugly sweater but want to show off your spirit, pair a simple holiday graphic tee with your go-to jeans or jeggings. These adorable long-sleeved tops are all available at Meijer, plus they’re casual and comfy (so you can wear them again and again). Nobody said festive fashion is only acceptable at parties!

4dec_uglysweater3

Finally, if an understated look is a little more your style, pair colorful holiday socks with your essential winter wardrobe. Pull your socks over the bottom of your skinny jeans or leggings before zipping on your favorite ankle booties – you’ll have a new (and festive!) take on this season’s hottest trend.

Time to take on the most wonderful time of the year in style!

4 Cute (and Comfy) Outfit Ideas for Thanksgiving Day

With Thanksgiving only a few short days away, we’re sure holiday preparations are in full swing at your house. The food has been purchased and your plans are all set, so now there’s only one thing left to do – decide what to wear! Whether you’re hosting the festivities or attending dinner as a guest, here are a few trendy outfits you could rock on turkey day.

22nov2016thanksgiving_01

If your personal style is chic and simplistic, we love this trendy cream-on-cream look. While the ensemble only features one neutral hue, the texture of the sweater adds some easy variation. Choose metallic gold jewelry to complement the ivory shade, opting for long pendant styles that won’t distract from your detailed top. Complete the classic look with a pair of brown ankle booties (black can appear harsh against an all-white outfit) and place a napkin on your lap to protect from gravy spills during dinner!

22nov2016thanksgiving_02

For a turkey day outfit that’s both comfy and cute, opt for a soft, long-sleeve shirt and stretchy, high-waist leggings. This pair is wine red, which is our favorite fall shade, and offers lots of wiggle room after a big Thanksgiving meal. Your top should be neutral if you opt for colored bottoms, but you can add some extra detail with a printed infinity scarf. Choose a style featuring hues that match your bold leggings, plus an additional accent color to bring some dimension to your look. Finally, finish the outfit with knee high boots and minimal jewelry. Since you’re wearing a scarf, there’s no need for a necklace – stick to dangly hoop earrings and a bracelet instead.

22nov2016thanksgiving_03

It’s definitely no secret that we love Nordic prints – so you shouldn’t be surprised that this outfit made our list! Patterned dresses are another comfy, yet cute option, and they can be great for winter when paired with the right accessories. Long-sleeved styles can keep you toasty when it’s chilly out, but you could also add a moto jacket and tights for extra warmth. Complete the look with suede wedge booties and a choker necklace (or two) to add a fun, edgy twist to this festive holiday outfit.

22nov2016thanksgiving_04

Finally, if your Thanksgiving get-together is a bit more laid back, opt for your favorite winter closet staple: a warm, cozy flannel. Pair with colored pants in a festive olive green, and trendy ankle booties in a neutral black or grey. This outfit looks great with a short, statement necklace – but make sure it complements the shades of your top. If you add too much color to a mix-and-match look, your outfit can become distracting and even start to clash! Finish the ensemble with a simple watch and bracelet, and your turkey day look will be perfectly complete.

Now that you’ve got your outfit on lock, here are 10 kitchen gadgets to make hosting Thanksgiving easy.

Outerwear That Will Keep You Warm (and Stylish) this Winter

Gone are the days when bundling up cramped your style – coats, hats and mittens have officially become a fashion statement. Believe it or not, we can’t wait to break out our favorite boots and parkas! Need a little help getting as excited for winter as we are? Here are some trendy outerwear options for every cold weather occasion.

17nov2016winterouterwear_01

For those days the air is extra cold and brisk, opt for a long, heavy parka with a faux fur-lined hood. The long coat will keep you warm from your head down to your knees, while the faux fur details serve as a cozy makeshift scarf. We love this jacket in an earthy olive green – and the metallic gold buttons add a subtle, yet stylish accent. Complete the look with sherpa-lined boots to keep your tootsies nice and toasty; then add a matching knit hat and mittens to protect your hands and ears. Who knew staying warm could look so incredibly trendy?

17nov2016winterouterwear_02

When dressing for your work or family holiday party this year, choose a classy, neutral peacoat in a creamy white or tan. Use a narrow belt to cinch the jacket at your waist – this will keep out the cold (and show off your curves at the same time!). The formal style is perfect for any special occasion, plus it’ll look great with your favorite Nordic print dress. Over-the-knee boots will keep your legs warm in the winter, and a pair of matching faux leather gloves ties the elegant look together. For a little something extra, add an infinity scarf in an accent color that complements your dress. The bold shade will add intrigue to your light, neutral peacoat.

17nov2016winterouterwear_03

If you’re headed out and about and the air isn’t quite as brisk, a lined moto jacket serves as a great (and trendy) windbreaker. Add cute, wintery details with a Nordic print scarf, and keep your fingers just the right amount of toasty with neutral, lightweight gloves. Our favorite pair this year features tech-friendly fingers – so we don’t have to take them off to check our phone or send a text! Want to know the best part about this trendy look? It’s made for transitioning from fall into the brisk, winter weather, so you can still wear those ankle booties you loved last season!

Looking for more winter style inspiration? This lounge look is perfect for cold, lazy mornings.

We’re Integrating Our Plus Department With Other Sizes – And Here’s Why

For as long as we can remember, women have been forced to shop in different areas of the store based solely on their size. Friends and families are unable to shop together, and on-trend styles aren’t always available to everyone.

At Meijer, we think it’s time to change that.

We believe all customers should be able to shop for the latest trends in the same section and at the same price, regardless of what size they wear.

As a result, we’re proud to announce that we are integrating the plus department with the straight sizes in all 230 Meijer stores by early 2017.

So what does this mean?

Sizes S through 3X will be found on the same rack, so our customers can finally shop together. While this integration will be taking place over the next few months, you’ll really see our commitment to offering on-trend styles for all sizes in our spring 2017 collections.

Some of our customers have already noticed this change – they’re loving the inclusive shopping experience, and we know you will too.

The Best Ways to Wear a Mock Neck

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

This week, we’re welcoming Candace from Live, Love and Read to share how she styles this season’s mock neck trend in three must-try looks.

I’ll be the first to admit that when I heard the mock neck trend was making a comeback, I was instantly frightened and nostalgic all at the same time. Being a 90s baby (I was actually born in 1989 and also claim the 80s), mock necks were on pretty heavy rotation during my elementary school days. I am certain that I wore a mock neck for my 4th grade picture day!

There’s no doubt that the transition to fall has been much warmer than usual. Despite the warmer temperatures, I really enjoy dressing for the seasons and the mock neck trend has allowed me to do just that in a variety of ways. From layering with a button down or a blanket scarf or simply adding a statement necklace or earrings, the mock neck is undoubtedly something that every woman needs to embrace this fall season!

Statement Style

With the neckline of the mock neck being undeniably a bit more modest, a nice way to add drama to your look is adding a statement earring. A killer statement earring can really take a mock neck to the next level! To give your top even more character, add some additional drama by either layering on a blanket scarf or button down.

Textured Trend

We’ve all heard the saying “less is more.” Well, you’ll be glad to know those sentiments ring true with the mock neck trend! Yet another way you can give this ultra-feminine silhouette some drama is by pairing it with a more masculine texture. The details of the Parka jacket and the popped collar allow the mock neck to really be the focal point of this look. This combination of textures and silhouettes perfectly embodies the tom girl trend.

Layered Look

When in doubt, double layer! A long statement necklace paired with a mock neck and layered with a button down and/or jacket is an amazingly easy way to give this 90s trend a new breath of life. The necklace and button down creates this unique point of interest that allows the beauty of the mock neck to really shine through.

If you’ve been a bit apprehensive of embracing the mock neck trend, I encourage you to embrace it whole-heartedly. It’s one of those simple wardrobe pieces that will provide you with endless versatility for this fall season and seasons beyond. Also, do yourself a favor and snag this beauty in every possible color available. Yup, that’s just how much you’ll love this neckline!

The Perfect Lounge Look for a Weekend Morning

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

This week, we caught up with Tieka from Selective Potential to show us how she keeps her weekend look on point with cozy layers perfect for crisp autumn mornings.

dsc_3047

We all have those mornings. The air is just chilly enough that you don’t want to get out from under the covers, but the bright fall colors are calling your name. That’s why we love Tieka’s essential weekend look – it’s perfect for crawling out of bed and enjoying the season. She’s got just the right amount of layers to enjoy the crisp morning air (plus a good magazine and a cup of coffee so she can really ease into her weekend).

It all starts with a super soft tunic. Long enough to wear solo as a pajama shirt, the irresistibly soft fabric is perfect for marathon sleep sessions. Tieka chose hers in black – a classic color that allows the top to double as a basic tee when she rolls out of bed.

dsc_3020

Then, before she steps outside, she adds cozy knit tights. Unlike leggings that leave your ankles exposed, these thick sweater tights have enough fabric to keep you nice and toasty – at least until the first snowfall. Keep those tootsies warm with some faux fur-lined moccasins. Bonus: the thicker lining on the bottom means the soles of your feet stay nice and dry, even if there’s some morning dew left on the patio.

dsc_2990

Finally, instead of grabbing her hubby’s worn-in college sweatshirt, Tieka bundles up with an oversized marled shawl that doubles as a blanket. The black and white yarn makes this an instant classic, while the fringe hem is a nod to the boho trend we’re seeing everywhere this season.

dsc_3074

And with that, fall has never looked so inviting.

How to Pull off Wearing Nordic Prints with Everything

This winter, we’re embracing the season’s cold weather and chills with trendy pieces inspired by our Euro cousins to the North. From detailed, geometric prints to subtle hues of our favorite colors, Nordic-inspired fashion is taking over our wardrobe. Not quite sure how to try this trend? Here are six Nordic essentials that will keep you stylish (and warm!) all winter long.

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-5-1

Nordic print

Perhaps the most recognized Nordic-inspired trend is an intricate print that features crisp, clean lines and geometric shapes. When styling this trendy, yet elaborate pattern, wear simple bottoms and minimal accessories to keep all eyes your top. If this look is a little too bold for you, wear a scarf that features the print paired with a solid, knit sweater.

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-1

Cozy knits

The best thing about Nordic fashion is that you can stay warm in cold weather without sacrificing style. Opt for cozy knit sweaters in muted, earthy colors – staying far away from the bold shades that commanded your wardrobe last summer. Pair with your go-to denim jeans and neutral ankle booties for an understated look that’s as comfy as it is stylish.

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-3

Boxy plaids

While plaid can be worn throughout any season, stick to darker shades like navy and burgundy wine red this winter. Loose silhouettes create a cozy, casual vibe and pair well with your favorite skinny jeans or leggings. Finish the look with an effortless top knot and you’ll be ready to hit the streets (even if they’re covered in snow).

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-4

Sherpa fabric

For those brisk, winter days you want to stay wrapped up in a blanket, opt for a faux suede cardigan lined with soft sherpa fabric. While this comfy, neutral shawl will be the focal point of your look, add your favorite tasseled scarf to provide an easy pop of color.

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-5-left

Cargo jackets

Cargo jackets are stylish, yet simple, making them the perfect pair for an intricate Nordic print. To ensure your ensemble doesn’t become too distracting, opt for a jacket in a neutral hue or an earthy olive green. The colors complement all of our go-to winter shades – plus, this seasonal pattern will remain the star of the show.

287820_nordicfrost_10212016-7

Fringe tassels

Bring boho inspiration to your cool weather ensemble with fringe tassel details on your sweater or scarf. While Nordic trends are typically casual and simple, this is an easy way to add just a little something extra. Even if you opt not to wear any jewelry, this detail is almost an accessory in itself!

Now that you’ve mastered the Nordic-trend basics, start prepping for your first venture into the snowy winter weather with eight easy ways to style a blanket scarf.

The 4 Must-Try Fall Jewelry Trends

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

This week, we caught up with Alexis from That Chic Lex to get a of glimpse of her must-try jewelry trends for fall, as well as some ideas on how to wear them with her boho chic style.

img_2044

As you’re trading in your sandals for ankle booties and t-shirts for fringe ponchos, there’s one cool-weather update you can’t afford to forget: your jewelry wardrobe! While summer pieces are light, bright and dainty, this fall ushers in a new era of statement-making accessories.

Here are the four head-turning pieces that Alexis will be wearing this season, acting as the perfect complement to her bohemian style.

img_2019

1. Two-Toned Metallic Bracelets

My first fall accessory pick is this set of flexible metallic bracelets. I love the combination of silver and rose gold! The colors pair beautifully together, though you wouldn’t necessarily expect them to. The bracelets come in a pack – but three bracelets is never enough, so I always grab two.

img_2026

2. Stone Statement Rings

The real eye candy, though, is these bohemian rings. I don’t usually wear rings, but I’m glad I gave these a try! I love the marble-inspired stones and filigree details, as they add a rustic, yet sophisticated touch.

img_1962

3. Layered Chokers

Perhaps my favorite piece, however, is this black suede choker. When I found out the ‘90s were making a serious comeback, I searched my room in hopes to find necklaces from my past. It’s been a while (so unfortunately I couldn’t wear any of my old favorites!), but this gave me the perfect opportunity to snatch up a new one.

Unlike a regular choker that wraps directly around your neck, this one has distinct details that add character and dimension. Since I like to wear tops that are more minimalist in style, I know this choker will really command my ensemble.

img_1974

4. Round Sunglasses

The last fall accessory I’ll be rocking on the regular is this pair of retro circle sunglasses. This fall’s boots and prints are bohemian-inspired, so I love to extend the trend to my new autumn shades. Just because it’s getting colder doesn’t mean there isn’t sun!

img_1992

Looks best with…

I like to pair my autumn jewelry trends with flare jeans, a mustard mock neck, a cardi with fringe and black ankle booties. The look quickly became my go-to for the season! I love the colors and the pieces – especially the accessories!

With so many jewelry trends to try, it’s never been easier to shake up your fall wardrobe and add even more personality to your look.

Fall’s Favorite Shade: Wine

Every time autumn comes back around, we’re excited to change the color scheme of our closet. Our favorite fall shade is wine-inspired this year, and we can’t get enough of all the different ways to style it! This deep, berry red flatters every skin tone and brings a sophisticated twist to any autumn ensemble. If you’re as ready as we are to try out this versatile hue, here are four easy ways to rock wine red this fall.

Combine two essential autumn trends into one by choosing a cold shoulder top in a wine-inspired shade. When paired with a choker, simple denim and your favorite ankle booties, all eyes will be on this must-have berry hue. The look is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall – plus, it gives off a fun, edgy vibe that’s great for any occasion!

If you’re loving the denim-on-denim trend this season, pair a cozy wine-colored sweater with jeans and a denim vest. Opt for booties in a light shade to brighten up the ensemble (while keeping the attention on your trendy fall top). Not only is this outfit as comfortable as it looks, but it’s totally versatile too – pulling the vest on or off can change your look in no time.

A classic pattern like stripes will never go out of style, so it’s a great choice when accenting a wine-inspired shade. Stick to neutral hues like gray to complement the color, and opt for simple denim bottoms to finish off the look. Keep jewelry to a minimum to avoid distracting from this detailed top.

You can also incorporate this autumn hue through your accessories. Match it with a top in the same berry shade, pair it with other fall colors like olive or navy, or simply use it to accent a classic, neutral outfit. Don’t forget the trendy fringe tassels!

3 Blogger-Approved Ways to Style a Cold Shoulder this Fall

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

Although the fall chill has started to set in, we’re not quite ready to let go of summer’s off-the-shoulder trend. Luckily, we don’t have to – and neither do you! This season, transition to cooler temps with a chic cold shoulder top that pairs perfectly with your autumn wardrobe. If you’re not totally sure how to pull off this trend, here are three blogger-approved ways to rock a cold shoulder this fall.

1

Candace of Live Love Read pairs a cold shoulder with bright, statement-making colors to make sure all eyes are on her trendy top.

“Believe it or not, but I am personally convinced that every woman wants to show a little bit of skin. One of the things I love most about the cold-shoulder trend is that it allows you to show that little bit of skin in the most modest way possible! Just a little touch of shoulder.”

When styling this look, I really wanted to accentuate the shoulder, since it is indeed the point of interest for this top. To really centralize the attention on my shoulders, I opted to go with a bold colored top and layer with a bold colored statement necklace. Combining these two choices helps to keep the attention on the top half of my outfit. In order to keep this look neutralized and not too busy, I opted for an ashy black denim and ankle boot.”

Natalie of Natalie in the City loves how simple shoulder cutouts can give her entire outfit the edgy look she adores.

“If there is ever an opportunity to sport cut-outs on my sleeves or on the shoulder of a blouse, I’ll take it. Since the cut-out look gives off an edgy vibe, I wanted to pair this top with fitted cargo skinny jeans and a choker, necklace combo.

The black ankle boots top off my look perfectly, and I also worked in a wrap bracelet embellished with crystals to incorporate some sparkle into my outfit. The blouse was longer in length so I decided to tie a knot on the right side of the top to give it a more fitted look.”

Nina of The HSS Feed embraces this fall’s take on the off-the-shoulder trend, pairing it with her favorite seasonal hues and styles.

“I’ve loved the off-the-shoulder look all summer long, so I was really happy to see it transition to fall in a slightly different way, with cold shoulder cutouts. For me, this look is a great way to be a little sassy and show some shoulder, but still stay warm as temps start to drop in the coming weeks and months.

The rich berry red shade is one of my favorite trends of the season, so I went a little out of my comfort zone and styled a look in that color from head to toe. The sweater I wore is a great staple piece and can be styled more casually when paired with distressed denim and booties or dressed up with leather-look leggings and black heels. Don’t forget to complete your look with accessories like a plaid blanket scarf, layer on some long necklaces or wear long statement earrings to draw even more attention to those cutouts!”

Whether you keep it simple or go for a bolder look, cold shoulder tops are here to stay this fall. Need some more fashionista-inspired advice? Check out 3 blogger-approved ways to wear boot socks this fall.

This Fall’s Must-Have Color Palette

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. From style tips to makeup trends to home décor, we’re excited to see how these fashionistas gear up for fall weather.

This week, we’re welcoming Nina from The HSS Feed to share some of her favorite fall styles in this season’s starring color palette.

As someone who wears a lot of black, gray and other neutral colors, adding color to my wardrobe can be a little intimidating. But this fall, I’m excited to get out of my comfort zone a bit and start playing with some great, colorful pieces!

The great thing about this fall’s top colors is they’re rich, vibrant and so easy to mix, match and wear no matter your style!

1

Berry Shades

This might be my favorite on-trend color this season. Whether it’s a rich plum, burgundy, or maroon, you can easily find one of these beautiful berry shades to perfectly compliment your skin tone and style. Also, you might want to think about adding this color to your look with accessories to give the trend a try!

2

Mustard Yellow

A deep, mustard yellow reminds me of the changing fall leaves, and it’s a great color to try! I love styling this particular color of yellow with jeans to make it really simple for everyday – or even paired with another on-trend color this season, such as an olive green skirt or rich, berry-colored heels.

3

Royal Blue

Blues are an easy go-to for a typically neutral-wearing girl like me, so I loved seeing lots of great, rich blues at Meijer recently. They’re easy to pair with simple pieces like flared denim or even your basic black skinnies. Remember how you’ve been told that you’re never supposed to pair this type of blue with black? Well, it’s time to toss that rule out the window!
